You will have access to my house/kitchen for refrigerator or stove use as needed as well as to cool off as well as bathroom facilities.
We are about 10 miles away once you turn off Hwy 45 at the Sprint Cross Roads Gas station (at the only Stop Light in Hamilton, MS). At about 7 miles up, the road splits. Go left up on Grubbs Springs Rd for about 3 miles. The road sign is not clearly visible so JUST VEER LEFT AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD onto Grubb Springs RD. When you are approaching our drive, you will pass a large, empty fenced in area, then a single family dwelling, then a wooded area with small family cemetery. Once you pass this, our driveway turn in is a very sharp right turn (again, wooded, so wonβt see until you are up on it). Our mailbox is numbered. There are actually three mailboxes there. If you pass the driveway/private road, you will see nice brick home on your right. There is a turn-around drive way just past that house, but on the left side of the road.
WE ARE BACK IN THE WOODS SO YOU WILL NOT FIND US UNTIL YOU DRIVE UP OUR LONG DRIVEWAY, UP THE HILL.
AS YOU COME UP THE HILL, TURN RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE HILL. YOU WONβT MISS THE BARN.
Saturday and Sunday June 22-23 Meridian Amateur Radio Club will be participating in summer field day. This is a nationwide event. MARC will operate from the Collinsville Fire and Rescue building located at 11710 Nancy Dr, Collinsville, MS. Setup will begin approximately 10:00am Saturday June 22.
We ask that you bring your friends and family out to learn about the hobby. Some of the things you can expect to see are the info table, multiple operators, media coverage, and an instructional table. Kids are welcome. Hopefully we can ignite a spark in them, so ham radio can be enjoyed for generations to come. We hope to see you all there.
As an added note: KI5HCM aka Buford will be our acting safety officer. I have no doubt he will keep us all safe. I look forward to seeing you all at field day, until thenβ¦

Area 51 Radio Group and Jackson County Amateur Radio Association are workingΒ with Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks (MDWFP) to promote public awareness of amateur radio and Mississippiβs State Park system. There are 21 State Parks in Mississippi that are registered with Parks on the Air (POTA). It would be awesome if we are able to activate all 21 parks on the same day during the same time period!
We need help from Ham Radio Operators to make this happen. Please consider signing up for a time to activate a Mississippi State Park on Saturday, May 18, 2024 between the hours of 9:00 am β 6:00 pm CDT. We are looking for activators willing to work a morning shift or an afternoon shift.Β EmailΒ ms.parksontheair@gmail.comΒ to SIGN UP to Activate a park.Β

I enjoy chasing DX. But operating a βStealth Stationβ sometimes has its disadvantages when the pile ups are massive.
Often when listening you will hear the DX station giving out their callsign along with βlistening up or up 5-10 or???β
Now the operators who canβt figure it out will toss their callsign out where no one is listening for it and then the DX COPS will jump in and scream at the operator for not following the instructions which now means the people who followed the instructions are not hearing anything but Lids and Copsβ¦
Now here is the best video I have found (so far) that covers the topic so well that I wanted to share it with you.
Seems fairly simple and easy to understandβ¦ and although he is using a IC7300 for his exampleβ¦. Most (if not all) of the newer HF Radios will work in the same way.
Thanks to Matt K0LWC for the video. If you like it head over to his YOUTUBE site more more content.

The Mississippi QSO Party is an annual event that encourages Hams in Mississippi to get on the air and hand out QSOs to folks from all over the globe.
Whether participating from home, mobile, EOC, or maybe a Parks on the Air entity, itβs a great opportunity to rack up some contacts and meet some new Hams.
It runs from 1400Z on April 6 through 0200Z on April 7. Get on the air, activate a rare county, catch a new county, and have fun.
